WHAT ARE MACRONUTRITENTS?
Your “MACROS” or “MACRONUTRIENTS” is a term to describe the percentage breakdown of fats, carbohydrates and proteins which you should be eating as apart of your daily meals. This broad class of nutrients are measure in grams, and will vary depending on your unique metabolic rate.
When provided with the correct MACROs ratio, you will be supported with energy for essential body functions/ daily activities, reaching your goals will never be easier.
WHY CALORIES AREN'T EVERYTHING
Calorie requirements are important as you must be in a slight* calorie deficit to be able to burn fat, and lose weight however calories are not EVERYTHING, if you don’t have the right MACRO combination all efforts could be wasted.
Any good nutrition plan should should consider both calories (the amount of food required) and MACROS (the type of food required). This requirement is not a one size fits all and should change with your goals and activity levels.
*slight calorie deficit for YOUR specific metabolism is essential. Too much of a deficit will lead to muscle loss, a plateau of results, or a gradual slowing of your metabolism. Not enough of a deficit wont see any significant results.
To ensure you have to entire picture, your MACROs ratio appointment is best paired with Metabolic testing or an appointment with your dietitian/ nutritionist.
